Description
The Siemens Biograph mCT PET/CT Platform introduced the concept of a true “molecular CT”—a system designed to function both as an advanced PET/CT hybrid scanner and as a standalone, fully capable diagnostic CT unit. Built with a spacious 78 cm gantry bore and heavy-duty zero-deflection patient table, the mCT accommodates diverse patient populations, including bariatric and pediatric patients, as well as complex radiation therapy positioning setups. Equipped with LSO crystal detectors, Time-of-Flight reconstruction, and flexible CT configurations (up to 128 slices), the mCT provides exceptional lesion detectability, low-dose safety, and high operational throughput.
Key Features
-
Spacious 78 cm Large Bore & Short Tunnel: Accommodates bariatric patients (up to 227 kg / 500 lbs), reduces claustrophobia, and offers ample space for radiation therapy immobilization devices.
-
High-Density LSO Crystals & ultraHD•PET: Combines isotropic LSO scintillation detectors with Time-of-Flight (TOF) and Point Spread Function (PSF) reconstruction to deliver uniform 2 mm resolution across the entire field of view.
-
TrueV Extended Axial Field of View (Optional): Increases PET detector coverage by 33%, yielding a 70%+ increase in count-rate performance to enable 2x faster scans or 50% lower radiotracer dosage.
-
FlowMotion Continuous Bed Motion (mCT Flow Edition): Eliminates traditional “stop-and-go” PET bed positions, enabling continuous scan movement with organ-specific planning and continuous 4D gating.
-
Standalone Diagnostic CT Subsystem: Available in 20, 40, 64, or 128-slice configurations, equipped with CARE Dose4D and Adaptive Dose Shield to minimize CT radiation exposure.
-
Zero-Deflection Magnetic Table Drive: Maintains exact sub-millimeter horizontal alignment between PET and CT acquisitions to ensure precise spatial co-registration.
Key Benefits
-
Exceptional Small Lesion Detectability: High spatial resolution and improved signal-to-noise ratio allow radiologists to detect subtle tumors, small metastases, and lymph node involvement early.
-
True Dual-Use Economy: Acts as both a high-throughput hybrid PET/CT and a full-performance diagnostic CT scanner, optimizing room utilization and equipment ROI.
-
Bariatric & Radiation Therapy Versatility: The 78 cm aperture and heavy-duty couch simplify imaging for large patients and allow seamless integration with radiation oncology planning tools.
-
Reduced Scan Times & Lower Patient Dose: Fast 5-minute whole-body acquisition protocols and real-time dose modulation minimize patient anxiety and radiation exposure.
-
Standardized Quantitative SUV Tracking: Advanced daily quality control and syngo.via post-processing software deliver consistent SUV measurements for reliable therapy monitoring.
