The ONI MSK Extreme (also marketed as the GE Optima MR430s) bridges the gap between low-field open permanent MRIs and high-overhead whole-body systems. Built specifically for upper and lower extremities, it delivers true high-field 1.0T / 1.5T magnetic performance using a compact, lightweight active-shielded superconducting magnet weighing under $745\text{ lbs}$ ($339\text{ kg}$).
Instead of placing the whole body into a tunnel, the patient stays outside the scanner, resting in a cushioned, multi-position Ergo™ reclining chair with a moveable ottoman. The machine isolates the limb inside the magnet’s sweet spot, eliminating patient anxiety and giving orthopedic practices, sports medicine clinics, and radiology networks an efficient way to offload extremity exams from full-body MRIs.
