Description
Overview
The Philips Brilliance iCT scanner platform is designed to overcome technical limits in complex cardiac, pediatric, bariatric, and trauma imaging. Engineered around Philips’ proprietary Essence Technology, the iCT integrates advanced tube design, high-speed detection, and raw-data iterative reconstruction algorithms to provide low-dose CT imaging without sacrificing spatial resolution.
At the heart of the system is an AirGlide air-bearing gantry that floats on a cushion of air, enabling ultra-smooth rotation speeds of 0.27 seconds while withstanding centrifugal forces up to 30G. Combined with the iMRC tube featuring a segmented anode and spiral groove bearings, the system maintains continuous high-mA output during long, high-throughput imaging shifts.
Key Features & Advanced Technologies
-
AirGlide Air-Bearing Gantry: Frictionless gantry drive system that facilitates sub-second rotation times down to 0.27 seconds, essential for high-heart-rate coronary CTA and emergency trauma scanning.
-
iMRC Liquid-Cooled X-Ray Tube: 120 kW power output with direct anode liquid cooling (30 MHU thermal equivalent). Incorporates a 12-segment anode to prevent heat deformation during intense, back-to-back acquisitions.
-
NanoPanel Elite Detector Array: Advanced solid-state Gadolinium Oxysulfide (GOS) detector tiles built with TACH2 chip technology. Minimizes electronic noise by up to 86% to ensure clear low-contrast detail.
-
IMR (Iterative Model Reconstruction) & iDose⁴:
-
iDose⁴: Dual-space iterative reconstruction engine that reduces noise and preserves spatial resolution while lowering dose by up to 57%–80%.
-
IMR: Premium model-based iterative reconstruction that improves low-contrast detectability by 60% to 80% and cuts image noise by over 70% with virtually noise-free image texture.
-
-
O-MAR (Metal Artifact Reduction): Suppresses streak and shadow artifacts caused by orthopaedic joint replacements, spinal hardware, and dental work, preserving adjacent soft tissue boundaries.
-
iPatient Workflow Platform: Automatically customizes patient-specific scan parameters, contrast timing, and tube voltage based on age, weight, and anatomical region via automated ExamCards.
-
Eclipse DoseRight Collimator: Dynamically adjusts the primary X-ray beam at the start and end of spiral scans to eliminate non-diagnostic pre- and post-spiral radiation.
